UPDATE: Promoter Charged With More Fake Shows
(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The concert promoter accused of setting up fake Lil’ Jon show last year in North Dakota and New Mexico has been charged again.
Scott William Elkins of Lubbock, Texas, has been charged for a similar scheme in which he allegedly took the money and ran from a bogus concert for Houston-based rapper Lil’ Flip in Terre Haute, Indiana. The same Elkins was accused of conning hundreds of ticket holders last summer in Fargo with a fake Lil’ Jon concert.
Elkins paid $12,000 to refund tickets to the Fargo show, and was scheduled to plead guilty to the New Mexico charge in two weeks.
A Missouri Highway Patrol office arrested Elkins on April 3rd after a warrant for his arrest came up during a traffic stop. The warrant was from the New Mexico fraud charge. The accusations of the promoter picking up the concert proceeds prior to the cancelled show came after Elkins had been detained, when police found money orders in his vehicle and phone messages from Terre Haute residents demanding their money back, as previously reported on CelebrityAccess MediaWire.
An April 19th hearing was scheduled for Elkins to plead guilty. His court scheduled could be changed due to conflicts between the new charges and the New Mexico case, of which North Dakota prosecutors were unaware until recently. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
