BERLIN, Germany (VIP NEWS) — Secondary ticketing platform StubHub has launched in Germany.

The expansion follows the eBay-owned company`s launch in the UK in 2012. In the US, the company claims to now sell a ticket every second.

German buyers will be charged a service fee of €5 per transaction, which includes shipping charges. StubHub will provide a distribution channel for event organizers to list primary tickets at face value (plus fees), as well as acting as a resale platform. The company`s first partnership in Germany is with the Splash! and Melt! music festivals, where StubHub will serve as an Official Ticketing Partner and Marketplace.

Oliver Thiemann, StubHub’s country manager for Germany, said: “I’m thrilled to be bringing the successful StubHub concept to Germany. We listened carefully to numerous local ticket buyers and sellers to localize StubHub to a format that we feel works for German fans. Our site is fully optimized for mobile and our vision is to make the fan experience easy and secure.”

Scott Cutler, global president of StubHub, added: “We are delighted to be expanding our operations into Germany as part of our growing list of key international markets. The live event landscape promises something for every type of fan from sports to music, whether it’s rock or pop. With our focus on the fan experience, we want to bring the best of StubHub to one of the most vibrant markets in Europe.”

StubHub will launch with View From Section technology, initially at eight leading venues in Germany including the Mercedes-Benz Arena, Berlin and the Allianz Arena, Munich. This will enable fans to view the experience of the event from their seat prior to purchase.
