RHOBHs Adrienne Maloofs husband files for separation: what took so long?
Real Housewife of Beverly Hills’ Adrienne Maloof is about to be a single “housewife,” in so much as that term applies to a woman who thinks you should wash raw chicken with dish soap to get it clean. Adrienne’s husband of nine years, plastic surgeon Paul Nassif, has filed for a legal separation. Despite the amount that this couple regularly bickered and seemed unable to exchange even basic niceties with each other, sources on the RHOBH set call it a surprise, and say that they had no clue it was coming. Radar reports that Adrienne and Paul had an “open relationship” in the past months in a vain attempt to save their marriage. That of course didn’t work, since they were seeing other people and unable to communicate without arguing constantly. This marks the third breakup among the RHOBH cast in so many seasons. Season three is filming now, and will supposedly capture the moment when these two split. Here’s more, thanks to Radar, which also reports that Paul has moved out of the enormous mansion they shared with their three boys and their staff. Couldn’t Paul have just retired to another wing or to the guest house or something? Here’s more:
Adrienne Maloof and her husband filed for separation on Monday, but RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned the couple were having issues for a long time and even had an open marriage.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s estranged hubby Dr. Paul Nassif has already moved out of the family mansion, but friends of the couple are not surprised by the split and even say they saw it coming.
“Adrienne and Paul have pretty much had an open marriage for quite some time,” a close pal exclusively told RadarOnline.com.
“They both knew of indiscretions the other had, and both would get jealous, but their marriage had become so broken it was the only option for them.”
After nine years of marriage, Adrienne exclusively told RadarOnline.com: “I’m so sorry that this is happening, but my children are my life and sometimes we need to do what’s best for them. It’s an unfortunate situation, but I have to have my kids’ best interest at heart.”
The cast of the hit Bravo show is taping tonight and insiders say Adrienne’s divorce is sure to play a key role in the new season.
“Everyone involved in the show knew Adrienne and Paul weren’t happy with each other and quickly on their way to a divorce,” the source continued.
“Having an open marriage was not a solution but they were desperate to keep it together for the children.”
While the source maintains an open marriage existed between Adrienne and Paul, they note that neither is actually ending the marriage because of a new relationship.

These two seemed miserable with each other from the moment we saw them on the show. I’m surprised they lasted this long, honestly. At times Adrienne treated Paul with contempt, and while I haven’t watched the show in a while I thought their bickering seemed mutual. There’s a difference between mild disagreements and deep constant rifts that end up making a couple hate each other. I don’t see Adrienne hooking up with someone for a while, although she might try to get something going for the sake of the show. She just seems like she would be a lot happier without a man.
After I wrote this story, Radar came out with the news that Adrienne has an iron clad prenup that will protect her family fortune, and that she plans to file for sole custody of their three boys together. Will this get interesting? I doubt it. Adrienne throws a lot of money around, but she’s ultimately low on drama apart from Paul. She’ll probably sneer, roll her eyes, they’ll sign some paperwork and be done with it.
