Nicki Minaj In Dance Gear Says My Girl Is Working Working
Nicki Minaj trains hard for her performances, and even for rehearsals she is dressed to impress. Minaj, 41, shared a video of herself with dancers, posing in gray leggings and a tank top that showed off every curve of her hourglass figure. "Them Nicki is having a breakdown 😂 meanwhile my girl is working working!!! Can't wait to see you at Barclays Center!!!" she captioned the post. Here's how the rapper stays happy, focused, and healthy on the inside and out.
Minaj lost weight after overhauling her diet. "[I] channeled all of my power and now I have control of it. I control how it manifests in my life," she said on the Queen Radio podcast. "I was trying to do this diet and I kept putting it off. I didn't think I could have the discipline in what I ate. Once my mind was committed to it, my body committed to it."
Minaj does strength training sessions three times a week. "The general recommendation is to do muscle-strengthening activities two times per week, including all of the large muscle groups," Dr. Tommy Lundberg, exercise researcher at the Karolinska Institute in Solna, Sweden, tells CNN. "If you want to be time effective, do one or two sets of each exercise. If you have more time, do three or four. But it's always better to reduce the number of sets per exercise than to reduce the number of exercises."
Minaj loves experimenting with her look, saying the only thing she needs help with is eye makeup. "Because they're the one thing I need my makeup artist to do," she told ELLE. "I don't have the patience, my hands shake, and I mess everything up. So my makeup artist has to do my brows and lids and lashes. Everyone knows I'm a lash girl by now. When I don't have my lashes, I feel naked."
Minaj is determined to have a kind inner voice, which has not always been the case. "One time I was thinking… what if one of my best friends said the things that I say to myself?" she said on the Queen Radio podcast. "The people who love you don't talk to you like that, don't treat you like that, don't say things like that to make you feel pain, but we do that to ourselves. Women, we do that to ourselves all the time over our bodies."
Minaj's best beauty advice is to use foundation for contouring. "I contour by using a lighter shade of foundation under my eyes instead of concealer," she told ELLE. "I take it down in a triangle by the sides of my nose, and then apply blush on top. I don't do round, rosy cheeks; that's for old people. It's played out. I like the color to be like a diagonal line across the cheekbone up to the temples. It really changes the shape of my face."
