GG Magree combines EDM with trap and punk in her addicting new single and music video titled "King"
Combining elements of various different styles into an EDM switch-up track, GG Magree continues to grow her multi-faceted career with the awesome release of “King”. The track is accompanied by a brilliant indie music video that includes witchcraft inspiration which relates brilliantly with her recently released film, “Dead Hot”, in which GG Magree stars alongside Vanessa Hudgens as they travel to Salem, Massachusettes to learn about the Salem witch trials. The release of “King” by GG Magree marks the follow-up to “Turn Me On”.
Hailing from Australia, GG Magree – real name Georgina Lee Magree – is an exceptional artist whose distinct blend of punk rock and bass has propelled her to sold-out shows worldwide. With electrifying performances at renowned festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra, GG Magree has established herself as a standout in the music scene since 2016. Showcasing her talents through rocktronic productions, self-directed music videos, and captivating vocals, GG Magree has collaborated with influential artists such as Grabbitz, Seven Lions, and NGHTMRE & Zeds Dead. Her collaborative track with the latter has amassed over 38.4 million streams on Spotify alone, marking her vocal debut. As GG Magree wraps up her ‘so tuff so cute’ tour with Mija at Summer Camp Music Festival in May, fans can eagerly anticipate her fothcoming debut EP in 2022, promising her most authentic music to date.
Talking about the track, GG Magree said: “‘King’ is the ultimate anthem for personal empowerment. When women excel we should be awarded the same accolades and titles as our male counterparts. If a woman reigns supreme in her field, then she has earned the title of King. This song is a tribute to the idea that anyone can be a King.”

Written by Georgina Lee Magree, Nicholas Winholt, and Sizzy Rocket, whilst it has been produced by the artist herself, “King” is a powerful statement track that is full of positivity and encouragement, throwing out societal expectations and gender norms with awesome defining lyrics wrapped around intricate production and strong emotional vocals. GG Magree doesn’t hold back as she inspires all her listeners and proves that women deserve the title of King as much as anyone else if they work just as much as their male counterparts. The rebellious but influential lyrics are enhanced with incredible techno-house beats, rocktronic rhythms and pulsating synths, showcasing GG Magree’s unforgettable production style that adds intense and catchy melodies as she fuses together EDM with rock music to create her own sound. She doesn’t stop there, there’s a throbbing bassline running throughout alongside undeniable hard drops that twist together to create a haunting dance-rock track that we can’t get enough of.
As for the music video, which has been directed by Benjamin Church, we watch GG Magree walk inside a derelict building with the intention to practise witchcraft using a variety of methods from crystals to tarot reading and even via an Ouija board. The cabin is surrounded by woods which only adds to the eery atmosphere and she performs with undeniable energy throughout the video to showcase the story, whilst also proving why she is also a King. Energetic and sexy throughout, GG Magree brings everything to this, effortlessly making us all wish to see her live sometime in the future.
At the end of the music video, GG Magree dedicates the visual to the director, as this was the last music video that they worked together on. Sadly, Benjamin Church suddenly passed away shortly after they filmed this. The last two stills of the video have the message, “Ben forever in my heart. This one’s for you King”. She hopes that this music video serves to honour his memory.
