When we think of Tom Brady, we think of a successful American football quarterback who has achieved many victories in his career, who is very well-known. But does Tom Brady have a college degree? 

Tom Brady does, in fact, have a college degree in General Studies with minors in both psychology and business administration; he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1999. It turns out Brady has the brains to compliment his athletic personality.

Tom Brady’s Early Years

Tom Brady grew up in a Catholic family in San Mateo, California. Brady’s heritage consists of Irish descent from his father’s side combined with German, Norwegian, Polish, and Swedish descent from his mother’s side. 

Brady grew up in a fortunate, jovial household where sports was a hot topic. From a young age, Brady has been passionate about football. He played his first game in the schoolyard of St. Gregory’s elementary.

In an interview with The Eagle Tribune, Tom Brady’s father, Tom Sr. admitted: “Everything was a competition. I guess it made things really fun, at least for the winner.” It looks like Tom Brady has his father to thank for his competitive streak.

Originally, Brady was going to settle for a career in baseball since he only dreamt of a career in football. This soon changed when Brady followed his dreams, making them into a reality by pursuing a career in football

Tom Brady’s Early Education

Tom Brady’s younger self loved to attend quarterback games, and he idolized Joe Montana to the fullest extent. Early in life, Brady was known for his attendance at Montana’s San Francisco 49ers games.

Tom Brady attended Junípero Serra High School, where he learned the basics of football at its college. 

Throughout high school, Brady excelled at sports including football and baseball. However, Brady revealed all in an interview with CBS Sports admitting that he wasn’t the most exemplary student. 

In the interview, Brady acknowledged that although he wasn’t a star student himself, he would be infuriated if his kids mimicked his behaviors as students. He said: “If my kids gave the effort I did, I’d be pretty p***** at my kids.” 

In the same interview with CBS Sports, Brady refused to discuss who was the better sportsman out of himself and Joe Montana, explaining: “I would never say that. That’s not how I think about myself. The only thing I care about is, am I the best I can be?” 

Tom Brady’s Education at Michigan

Between 1996 and 1999, Brady attended the University of Michigan. In fact, Tom Sr. reported to Vault that his son had chosen Michigan twice. It seems as though Brady had his mind set on Michigan. 

In the early stages of his college career, Brady competed as a Wolverine for four seasons though he didn’t qualify as a starter until his junior year. I bet you’re wondering why. The simple answer is that Brady faced challenges in getting playing time

Greg Harden, an assistant athletic director, worked closely with Brady throughout his education at Michigan and helped Brady to increase his confidence and enhance his performance on the playing field

Whilst at college, Brady had jobs to support his livelihood at Michigan. 

In 2017 during a press conference, reflecting on his non-football jobs alongside college Brady said: “I worked in construction, worked at a golf course to play free golf, because that’s what I like to do, worked at a festival at night, so I was working two jobs.”

It appears Tom Brady didn’t just excel in the playing field, as he graduated from Michigan with a 3.3 GPA. Impressive, right?
